It is totally one am. Third night of insomnia. Of course the fact that I keep sleeping until midday might have something to do with it.

I successfully outmanouvred my mother and avoided going to the Art Gallery OF DETH today. I did so by refusing to get out of bed until she gave up and wandered off. Sadly these kind of tactics work on my mother.

Tonight (technically last night) she told me Back in Soviet Russia stories. You know, "My friends cat was thrown off the eightth story by anti-semites", that kind of thing. Also, apparantly her grandmother had a Communist revolutionary teacher back in 1914 (before the cool kids were doing it!) and he organised a classroom strike (which, for no readily apparant reason, involved a human pyramid).

Ah, family history. All your daily WTF needs in one gene pool.

I knew this girl in high school who spent her childhood in the USSR. She would always slip horror stories into everyday conversation: "I was reading this magazine, and there was this dress in it that was so ugly. I don't know why anyone would wear this dress. My grandfather was gunned down right in front of me when I was six."

It was REALLY strange.

Yeah, well, that kind of thing did happen. I mean, depending on the time period you could really take your pick of the KGB and the Mafia if you want to die a violent death.

Yeah. It's awful.

But it was really a weird thing to just inject into normal conversation. It made the rest of us...uncomfortable? Bewildered?

It was just an awkward, surreal situation. And she did this a lot.

Okay, this is completely superfluous, but why would someone kill a cat because they hated jews? I dunno for sure, but I don't think I've ever met a jewish cat.

Because it makes little jewish girls cry? I don't know, it wasn't my completely random story. I'm still o_Oing over the human pyramid.

Anyway, the cat didn't die, I think...

The illogic of hate crimes astounds me. I mean, not just because they're hate crimes, the nature of the crimes themselves. Anti-semitism ---> Throw cat off 18 story building. ...um. What?

As for the human pyramid, um... I've got it! It was probably something to demonstrate how the weight of the few is supported on the shoulders of the many, and thus, the bottom tier should revolt. See, I'm so smart! ...okay, I'm just making shit up, but it sounds plausible!

I don't know, it just makes m think of communist cheerleaders.

"Two four six eight, who do we appreciate?! Stalin!"

Its actually quite unlikely that the cat would have died. Science says that anything higher than the 7th floor is childsplay for a cat because it gives it plenty of time to brace for the fall and land on its feet. The poor 18th story cat may have broken some ribs but was probably well and truly alive at the bottom.

Eightth! It was 8 floors! Not eighteen. This is how rumours happen XP

PS: Stan, go get a job on Mythbusters or something. In fact, go get a job, period! :P

Ah! My mums family live in Siberia...out of choice =/ heh.

But argh I am planning a 3 day trip to Paris with my mum and she's like "no art galleries thank yooooouuuu" but this is okay because it means more time for shopping (with money that is not mine >_< oooh my first funny face!!). But seriously for the last week I've been thinking "omg London...galleries..."

I love BiSR stories. Although I prefer them when they involve me...so really they are more like TMAMAaB (tell me about me as a baby) stories =D

LOL, yes. Well stories about my grandparents and great grandparents are infinitely more interesting than stories about me as a baby, which mostly involve being thwacked about the head with leetle plastic chairs by small boys, but the basic principle, yes.

Don't worry, plastic chairs are too unstylish.

I prefer the whole baseball bat setup... or maybe a koala.

Tee hee, drop bears. What makes you think they need you to hit people with them? They can manage it just fine on their own.
