So that new fandom for a show I don't even watch? Stargate: Atlantis. Yup. My dad used to watch SG-1 religiously so I know the basic premise, but I actually literally have not seen a single Atlantis episode ever in my life. I blame this ENTIRELY on that fact that a ridiculous number of the most awesome authors in SPN and Smallville fandom (another show I coincidentally never watched but got sucked into fandom DEAR GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME) also write really amazing SGA fics.

The reason for making this post is that I looked at this icon and thought: "Dude! Stargate: Good Omens crossover time!" and then realised that I have set this year off to a good start by going COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY INSANE. MAD I TELL YOU, MAAAAAAAAAD.

Dude, where's my brain?

A meme from [livejournal.com profile] annella: One little compliment can make you feel amazing. So give me a compliment, anything in the entire world, even that my shoelaces are pretty. Put this in your journal. And once you get some comments, put that entry in a memory or tag and when you are feeling down, just go to that entry and this will remind how great you are.

Dude, your shoelaces are untied. :P

Okay, srsly, haven't all the hugs said enough? :) But hey, you're one of the most awesome people I know. I feel comfortable around you (well, after year 11 camp night I guess that makes sense *g*), and you're a wonderful person to talk to, whether it's just to rant, or to seek constructive, rational advice.

I suspect we're not going to keep in touch as much as we should, and that we're probably going to drift apart. You have no idea how sad that makes me. :( *hugs you tight*

Um. Feel totally free to badger me as much as you want re: keeping in touch. I'm TERRIBLE at it, but it's not because I don't want to, it's just this awkward combination of being terrified of phones, insecurity and forgetting that I *can*. So don't drift please!

Seriously, as you say all that stuff I *swear* I can feel your hands reaching out of the monitor and hugging (yes I know it's directed at Maggie), and it's only 1:11am so it must really be what you wrote and not my lucidity sliding. :P

Ahahahah, well, you guys know how I feel about hugging. So you're not totally incorrect, I guess. *g*

By the way, when was that Johnny Depp/Alan Rickman movie coming out? Mona and I are thinking of doing a get-together in the next few weeks. Prevents drifting and all that. :D

I think it's the 24th of January, however if you want to organise something before that, by all means go ahead, I'm in need of some social interaction

Right, this was my not-so-cunning way of trying to ask "What movie is this you speak of?" *looks sheepish*

But I'm actually running off to Jamberoo on Sunday, and won't be returning until the Thursday. And group outings tend to require advanced notice, since certain people have work/ballgirling/interviews.

So sorry, but we probably wouldn't do anything until the week after. *hugs*

Because, well, I actually do use ninja.com, and not google. :)

If you're going to try and pull that one then use blackle.com, the icons on ninja would consume more energy :P

Ahahahah, yeah. When the environmentalists were going on about saving energy, I was swooning over the ninjas. :D

And yeah, you're right. *pouts* Oh well, I'll just admit that I prefer ninja.com for the 'deadly accuracy'. *g*

You too with the SGA, hey? Happened to me as well. I got snagged by the Farm in Iowa AU, by [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon - go to her profile page for the link. She used to write HP fic ages ago, which is how I found her.

Also: if you haven't already, go to [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic. It's really good!

And, besides, there's always rental places for the dvd sets. I know that season one is definitely out here, not sure about the others.

See as far as I'm concerned saying SG-1 and Atlantis are the same should result in some sort of very extreme punishment. SG-1 is a great show, witty, enjoyable, just great fun to watch. Atlantis is an atrocity that somehow roams the earth and proves that there is indeed no merciful god (run for the hills children). Seriously, every episode that you watch results in the deduction of 10 IQ points. Atlantis deserves the same disdain from sci-fi fans as SG-1 cops from people who hate sci-fi. *shudders*

Don't worry, you're probably relatively sane in the grand scheme of things, at the very least you're much more sane than a large group of humans. Alternatively if you include vegetables and minerals (dear god that game is made of so much fail) you end up right at the pinnacle of sanity. *ponders* Is that a compliment?

YOU'RE made of fail, person who can't follow very simple game rules :P

I shall reserve my judgement on the relative qualities of the shows until I actually get to watch either of them properly. Meanwhile, SGA fandom has the BEST alternate universes.

The rules aren't simple, they can't possibly be, they make no sense, they're also physically impossible. How can something that is physically impossible be simple?

Road runner. Physically impossible yet very simple. Escher paintings (okay not that simple, but you get my drift). The concept of teleportation. Most fairytales.

The rules are simple: Everything is divided into the three categories. Ask questions till you guess. Quickest answer wins. The end.

Half the fun is in arguing over which category a weird thing fits into. Some people, for instance, think Truth and Justice are vegetables. (Speaking of simple yet physically non-existent things...)

I don't have to. I'm perfectly satisfied with knowing you ran ut of arguments and had to resort to "stupid."

^_^

Date: 2008-01-10 03:30 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cynicky.livejournal.com
No, I just did believe that the game warranted anything more than a "stupid" and as such a proper argument was just a waste of time.

Date: 2008-01-10 03:35 am (UTC)

No, see this now has nothing to do with the game itself, it's only the game that isn't worth commenting on.

Fair enough. Two thoughts:
1) You will eventually have to step up to arguments that you actually care about to some degree, maybe you should make a graph or something so you don't accidentally leap into the deep end right away.
2) Do we need to take shifts as your opponents? I can't handle that much petty bickering!

Date: 2008-01-10 03:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cynicky.livejournal.com
1. I have no idea what you're actually saying
2. That's basically all I did when I was at school with you anyway, besides, Diana's language when she argues gets grating after a while.

1. You want to gradually acclimatise yourself to less petty arguments, yes? So maybe you should work out where everything you're likely to argue about falls on the emotional/significance scale so you can tackle them in order.

2. Join an online messageboard, then, they're easy. Especially fanboys and anarchists.

Date: 2008-01-10 04:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cynicky.livejournal.com
1. Putting them in order sounds really lame, I'm only interested in the arguing ^-^

2. See, doing that would give me the opposite problem to diana, I really don't view arguing with knobs as valid

3. fuck almighty, this is getting hard to read

3. ROFL it is. Good thing I'm doing this in gmail!

2. But it's so much fun! Okay, skip the fanboys then, try some political boards. Liberal ones! You're bound to find some unknobby folks there!

1. Fair enough :P what a hobby.

Ugh, political arguments are so dry, I don't know enough about them because I really don't care, I'd get into some religious ones, but I really don't want to get told I'm going to be smote by baby jesus

Hee, smote. Nah, that's like Godwin's law - the minute you get threatened with wrath'o'god the argument is immediately rendered absurd and you may invoke the Flying Spaghetti Monster willy-nilly.
