[livejournal.com profile] brain_asplode has posted the prompts. For latecomers, the concept is simple: people submit characters. Characters get shuffled. Then people try to write the brain-breaking pairings that result. I will personally give a kidney (not my kidney, but somebody's kidney) for the person who writes any of the following:

20. William Bush - Hornblower / Jack Sparrow - Pirates of the Caribbean
34. Unity a.k.a. Lady LeJean - Discworld / Arnold Rimmer - Red Dwarf
35. Edmund Blackadder - Blackadder / Ianto Jones - Torchwood
50. Dave Lister - Red Dwarf / Captain America - Marvel Comics
76. The Librarian - Discworld / Wanda - Sandman
80. Lucius Malfoy - Harry Potter / Saffron - Firefly
91. Tim Drake - DCU / Rodney McKay - Stargate: Atlantis
95. Jack Harkness - Doctor Who / Ted Kord - DCU

97. Bart Allen - DCU / Cinderella - Cinderella
103. Han Solo - Star Wars / Malcolm Reynolds - Firefly

Obviously Jack Harkness pairs with anything and everything, but some of these are pure cracky gold.

Also note that genfic is acceptable if you cannot think of a romantic context for some of these, eg the Librarian. And Tim Drake unless he gets aged up and/or Rodney gets aged down. And Cinderella, because I think it would be adorable to have Impulse!Bart befriend Cinders pre-godmother. Or, oh oh, Bart Allen the fairy godmother! owmybrain. This is why this comm was started :P

In other comics-related news, I just read Watchmen (all in one go) and it is amazing. Seriously why did it take me this long to read that? I have no words.

PS: Going to UTS, I guess. *shrug* the campus isn't great but I'm totally over this whole uni kerfuffle. I just want to get on with things now. But not in the way that my mum wants to get on with things which includes suggesting that I find ex-students and badger them into giving me second hand textbooks oh my god it is january fffs. I DON'T EVEN HAVE TEXTBOOKS BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE CLASSES AND EVEN IF I DID ANTHROPOLOGY IS NOT A REAL SCIENCE AND IF YOU TELL ME THERE IS A TEXTBOOK FOR "CULTURE AND THE CITYSCAPE" I WILL LAUGH AT YOU SO HARD.

Cat War Three is totally going on right on my doorstep guys. There was yowling, and then there was wailing, and then there was yowling in a slightly different tenor, and then there was a stunningly poignant yet technically brilliant duet, and then I opened the door to give them a standing ovation and my cat leapt out of the fray. I quickly closed the door behind her lest a stray marauder parachute into my house with an AK-47. Currently my cat is licking her entirely metaphorical wounds (I checked) while the marauder is yowling grumpily outside.

Why yes, I am aware that it is three in the morning, but thank you for asking, do have a pirozhok.

More Fun With Sticks today. I gave in and looked up stick fighting on wikipedia and google.au, but only came up with this because all the various stick fighting schools are apparently based in Melbourne and Perth. Perth, I ask you! Anyway, might do a class or two to see what it's like.

Guess what, guys? Yaoi is going mainstream. I had a very surreal experience in the library today (the YA section, no less). The title "Zowie, It's Yaoi!" caught my eye. Not manga. Prose. I flipped open the book and what should immediately catch my eye but the phrase "his royal cock." Naturally I burst out laughing and had to be shushed by librarians.
