Laivi's Lawn is In Pain

bliumchikI can finally go back and un-flock that entry about Lizka's Naked Mackers Story, because Laivi's birthday is over and done with. It's amazing he didn't figure out the surprise beforehand - you know, what with Liza covertly lugging a camera around, and driving away from Dan's party for no readily apparant reason, and, heck, going "next door to Jason's" and returning AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER...
but, no. Liza managed to get basically every friend of Laivi's including Bradley from Mount Sinai, many of their parents, the cook at Noodle Boy, Laivi's parents, some completely random students at Sydney High, some Japanese tourists and a polar bear on tape saying variations of "Happy birthday Laivi!" without him noticing. Karen wrote a song to the tune of radiohead's Karma Police, somebody or
other was in their BATH o_O and Certain People were very, very drunk on tape for several minutes. I loved Toly's Neo impersenation.
I missed my bus and ended up getting to Laivi's a little late, but he and Liza hadn't turned up yet, typically, so that was okay. I mean, what the hell - he was the one distracting her at her surprise party - how did he not guess? Oh well. I arrived to discover the boys cutting up cheese to melt in a jar, which later exploded. Then the melted cheese kind of solidified into a glooey morass, like the stuff you get on cold pizza except HUGE. We called it the Frankel Cheese Mine.
Then we jumped out at laivi and yelled surprise, sentimentally watched the video, and kind of oozed into normal. A bunch of people chatting and/or smoking outside, a bunch of people playing veideo games, a bunch of people helping Alex with her maths homework. I sat outside on the grass for a while, tearing bits off it and listening to Polina talk about being vegetarian - no, sorry, aquitarian, which apparantly means she can eat fish. Aryeh and everyone were teasing her about it, but she's only doing it for health reasons.
After a while I noticed that the grass was twitching. No, seriously, it was! Every now and then a blade of grass would just *pop* up or down for NO REASON. Nobody was even touching it. It was kind of freaky. Maybe the lawn was in pain. So I went inside to try and extract some ex-cheese from the Mine.
