Oct. 2nd, 2005 03:13 pmI'm happy. I am strangely, completely, buoyantly, radiantly, inexplicably happy, and have been since yesterday. I've been prodding it suspiciously all morning, and have reached no conclusion except that I'm having a bout of spontaneous optimism.
Last night I saw Serenity with Avi. His dad tagged along because he wanted to see it and we needed lifts (My grandmother flatly refused to let me walk through maroubra at night, rapists and murderers, Бжмои!), but I got the impression he didn't like it. I loved it. Serenity is the official coolest thing since sliced bread, and I sliced a lot of bread today, so you can take my word for that. I mean, their word for cool is shiny!Shiny! It's, it's, I mean, it's shiny! It's, it's, it's like pie. It's just a- well, it is ridiculously cool!
I wanted to wear my red beret, but all my red tops needed ironing. What I ended up with was a black T shirt under a bluish sweater that had a lower neckline than the shirt, so i figured - what the hell. Let's not match today. I also realised that I have a very odd relationship with my mirror image. Although technically even talking to your mirror image is having a weird relationship with it, I suppose. Anyway, I fixed the neckline problem with a cat broach and then put on a green headband. It didn't match anything else I was wearing. Then I stuck a flower in it, and put on jingly bangles. Not matching is fun ^_^
There was some kind of queer do down at Fox Studios - I'm buggered if I know the event, the only thing that's on is the rugby (I'm buggered if I know what the rugby's on about, though), and that doesn't usually bring the drag queens out in costume. We passed a guy in a really pretty dress on our way to the lifts. It was pink and frilly. Then we had ice cream.
I was still happy this morning, although for a while sleepy kind of over-rode it, since I had to get up at eight to get to work at ten. Cranky Baker lectured me because I said hi too quietly. "It's very rude to just walk past someone without so much as a word of greeting!" "but I said-" "IT'S VERY RUDE." I remained so happy that "I didn't even start feeling tired and foot-achey for over an hour, and the rush of people that decided to get out of bed and go shopping around then was hectic and it was fun. Then I happily spent most of my paycheck on Avi and Stan's birthday presents, happily ate a roll, happily caught my various buses, chatted with the greek chicken people and came home to fine my brother covered in sand.
I'm happy that my parents are home, and they're happy, although my mother immediately started telling me to brush my teeth as always, and I'm happy even though my grandma's nagging catalysed a completely random burst of tears, which surprised me, but I'm still happy.
:)
