Not so much a poem as an excercise in weird metaphors

Love Story

Ink marks the petals of the rose you gave me
Scrawled endearments shade my eyes
Plastic feathers fan desire
Move too close and melt the fire
Romance twisted round my legs like copper plated vines

Treading on violet jacaranda blossoms
Feeding gold to oil-slick birds
Rusty charm creeps through the grass
Inhibitions break like glass
Patterned with defeatist shadowy pretentious ferns

Embroidered lilies decorate my dreams
Trampled by a purple mare
Almost lost sight of the darkness
Paper is enough to cut this
Love story tangled in your greasy black hair



I'm not sure where this came from - I was reading fanfiction or something, i think, and it occurred to me that the same old metaphors get used over and over and over again, and bleh.

Well, really, some of these lines just slipped into my head out of nowhere as I went about my daily grind, and so i wrote them down and tried to think of stuff to go in between them.
