So, Wednesday, backdated. The Neil Gaiman signing. It turned out we had thatMinefields and Miniskirts excursion, which I'd forgotten about. The buses were really crowded, and then we had to stand in two lines like primary school kids. My toffee apple got stuck in my teeth. I don't know how any of this is in any way relevant. The play was awesome, and I got back to school about ten minutes before the bell was to go. Avi turned up shortly, really glad to see him after over a week. His hobo gloves need repairing.
Sam showed up with her very obviously dyed hair and we crossed the road before realising we could've caught a schoolbus. So anyway, in the city we got food, and Sam stole half my chicken burger. Then she dragged us down to Utopia, where she forced me to try on a mildly hideous (but extreeemly tight) tartan shirt thing. And these weird panst with material crossing in front which cannot be convenient when you're, say, escaping from a mountain stronghold. She also drank my pearl milk tea. You leech, Sam :P
We then entered a shop containing clunky boots. Avi got hungry and had to leave soon, so I accompanied him to the whereabouts of chinese vegetarian things, and afterwards met Sam at Kinokuniya. Well, when I say met, I m,ean wandered around a bit and then called her on my rapidly dying mobile, because the place is damn huge. Anyway, we got in the line, which was already hideously long, and it wasn't even five thirty. I left her place-holding and went to buy my Preludes and Nocturnes. Came back and we stood there reading weird Japanese Fashion books off the stand. For about an hour. The line did not move. Then we discovered it was all cos of a Q&A that happened to be occurring RIGHT AT THE FRONT OF THE STORE WHERE WE COULDN'T HEAR IT. That's how far back in line we were. And we got there before it was scheduled to start.
After another forty five minutes Sam's mum called and she had to leave. So she left two of her books with me in the hope I could get them signed, and off she went. I got half-way through the comic and up to chapter ten of Good Omens (which I'd brought to sign) before I reached Neil. Oh, and I called my mum and chatted with the friendly random in front of me. He was asian with an American accent. He also sang along to the Radiohead song playing over the speakers *grin*. The store closed, but they let the signees stay. People came round several times with plastic cups of water. Also post-it notes for us to write our naje and stick to the page we wanted signed, for convenience and speed.
When we FINALLY got there, Gneil looked exhausted and unshaven. I got a "Burn This Book" and a "Sweet dreams" which appear to be the generic dedications for Good Omens and Sandman respectively. Sam's Neverwhere got a "Mind the Gap". Friendly Random took a photo and promised to put it up on his webpage so I could get it. And then I limped to the bus stop and got to Maoubra Junction at a time when no buses past my house were actually scheduled. I therefore walked home in the cold.
But, it was all worth it for my very first piece of Signed Merchandise, dubbing me a Real Fangirl. Plus Sandman is awesome. I gave Sam her books Thursday lunch, and in the afternoon went to the library. So basically, counting Harry Potter, I'm now half-way through three books (Well two and a comic). Lovely. Then I went to NIDA, after having Oportos two days in a row, only to find the course doesn't start till August.
Jenny has uber-short hair now. I'm reminded of the Chinese Olive People quote, which she doesn't remember. She looks like Joan. We had a new Careers teacher, who highlighted the utter incompetence of The Colonel. Turns out she had a bunch of sheets we were sposed to get but didn't, and he'd said we got them.
On my way back from NIDA my grandparents got on the bus with my brother. He called me Mahgi. It's very cute - he has a huuuge Russian noun vocabulary including a three syllable word meaning road accident, he just doesn't connect them up yet.
