Shakespeare Festival
Apr. 5th, 2005 06:42 pmWe were to spend the last three periods of school rehearsing. But just as we got to the campbell hall there was a fire drill. Why oh why couldn't it have occurred during double maths?! Anyway. When all that was done with, Annie and I went outside to practice by the fountain. I realised about half way through that there were people kind of slightly in the English rooms who might have had their classes disturbed by loud Shakespearean proclamations of love, but, meh.
Apparantly we were supposed to go home between the end of school and the start of the concert but... meh. We just stayed on the computers for a few hours. Later we got booted out by Mr Tate, so we practiced some more, and then Annie holed up in a maths room to study for jap while I ransacked the props room for hair gel. Turns out they've actually got all organised n stuff now, they have this whole cabinet with drawers labelled "Hair Products" and "Face Paints" and "Talcum Powder/False Bald Scalps" and "Eye Products/Fake Eyelashes". So I Talced up my hair as well as smiting it with gel, and Dirty Old Man I was XD
Anyway, the scenes were all great, although the junior performances were uberly random. Avi and Stan wandered in about halfway through the first half. The dance performance was amazingly cool looking and used a metallica song XD although it didn't seem to have much to do with Macbeth. Liv, Diana and Fiona co-ordinated their singing piece really well, although the actual content was hard to make out. Imm, lets ee... OOH! Ev's Othello was AWESOME. Angsty goodness XD
The last piece was A Midsumer Night's Dream, that was really well done - even though they forgot lines, I think they'll get through. I forgot lines too! But apparantly nobody noticed. And it seems Poppy and I were the only people playing male roles that actually wore shirts that made us look less feminine. Because you know a guy whose bra is showing needs help.

Date: 2005-04-05 06:03 am (UTC)Seriously though, you two were great. And then today, I had Ms. Kaye trying her hand at dramatic speech for the Petruchio part, reading the play in English. She was terrible... and she's been an English teacher for how long now?
She was also way too quick to take the important parts, delegating each scene's lesser characters to the class :P
