Star Wars and School of Rock

bliumchikIt's been a good weekend. On saturday I went to Stan's with Avi and watched the first Star Wars movie. It looked okay enough that it must have been awesome when it first came out. Sadly no "Luke, I am your father" but the robots were amusing. Stan's dog made it almost impossible to watch by jumping up and down on us and trying to steal our chips, which weren't actually chips but rather slices of potato which Stan attempted to bake. The ones that came out okay were good. Sadly many died a horrible death by fire. Following this, Stan demonstrated his amazing ability to accidentally disassemble a screwdriver.
Sunday was Alex's School of Rock concert. She was pretty good - her singer didn't sing too well, but he had an awesome Stalin coat, and that Will guy (whose hair is identical to Alex's) did a pretty good job of screaming into the microphone and added the crucial element of "hard rock" which was otherwise sadly lacking. He also has anti-fangirls. We met them on the bus, when we had no idea where to get off.
The music in general was good if somewhat excruciatingly loud, and it was fairly hot and stuffy inside, which made for a conspicuous absence of Mosh. Towards the end it came down to "OMG DYING need water... is it OVER yet?!" so Avi and I spent the last act sitting outside on the grass and not making out.
After the thing finally ended, we hung around outside for a while. Sasha produced a bottle of vodka out of thin air as per usual, but he got most of it to himself since the Mic and Toly were driving, and the thing had been in toly's car for like three hours anyway. Those three went off with Alex and Stan Avi Laivi Liza and I waited to get picked up by Avi's dad, who had kindly volunteered to give us a lift.
Liza pestered people for massages, and somehow or other we ended up sitting in a line on the log, each giving the person in front a massage. Some completely random kid with a packet of chips wandered up and looked at us. Liza was like "Wanna join in?" Kid: "Meh." Joins in. Laivi: "Pass the chips along. Couldn't help wondering if he walked past an orgy and someone said "Wanna join in" would he have said "Meh" in the same nonchalant fashion? Dunno where that image came from XP We got to keep the chips, too. Then Avi's dad showed up and dropped each of us respectively at the station, bondi junction and home.
Today it's the prelim Shakespeare festival. I should probably go down and start setting up. My character, Petruchio - he is SUCH a sleaze, man. I currently have a large repository of somebody elses gel in my hair, as well as some talcum powder. Ah, the joys of playing a dirty old man.
