Um so I kind of dropped off the face of the earth for a bit there? I always seem to do this, I don't know. Anyway, stuff I failed to write about while sulking at home for the last four days:

Weekend was fun, randomly went shopping on Saturday with an old NIDA buddy, Luke, my regular interaction with whom mostly consists of mutual whining about our lack of motivation and him bugging me for a female perspective on his girl problems. I managed to restrain myself from buying half a bookshop. Because I have NO MONEY. Or rather, I WILL if I keep buying things randomly :P I'm procrastinating like hell on resumes. I did buy a totally awesome silver snake that you can twist round your neck or arm or whatever, because. It was a SNAKE. And it was AWESOME. Also, birthday presents.

Birthdays the next day were also amusing. I got up too early (honestly, I went to bed too late) so Jenny could pick me up on the way to Centennial park. We staked out a BBQ and then sort of sat around waiting for the dude with the plates to show up. The whole thing was hilariously poorly organised, we had a plate of chicken on skewers and one set of tongs and... some potato salad. And nothing to clean the dirty side of the BBQ with... so we graciously ceded it temporarily to an old Chinese couple since most of our guests and half of our MEAT had totally failed to arrive just yet. Finally people showed up and I ate three lamb chops because I had basically rolled out of bed and into Jenny's car by way of my wardrobe (the tights-shorts-tshirt combo again only with less hilariously faily shorts). Then we played Taboo because that was the only set of cards anyone had brought. I really wished I would get the word "roll" so I could start singing "never gonna give you up..." Then I tried and failed to toast a marshmallow over the BBQ. THEN I said my goodbyes and walked back to Anzac Parade, where I crossed the road three times and missed two buses like a total moron, and fiiinally showed up at the karaoke place in the city about five minutes ahead of [livejournal.com profile] perfectdays and all her friends, one of whom greeted me with a rousing "Ah! You must be the husband!"

...I loled. Many of Cassie's friends turned out to have astonishingly good singing voices - one of them smugly informed us that she was in Miss Saigon in a couple of weeks, and another has half a band (sounds familiar :P). All of them were pretty cool, I should start reading your friendslist, Cass :P

We sang the usual suspects - Queen, songs from musicals, quite a lot of J-pop. I queued up some RHCP and MCR (of which they had about one song each... same for Placebo, except that one was... mostly just a drum track? IDK. They had no Dresden Dolls at all! And only one Regina Spektor!) and Weezer's Pork and Beans, which nobody else had heard of and which obviously everybody loved, because it is awesome. I tried to do Mack The Knife but it turned out to be a different version to the one I knew. And I still had a sore throat, too - by the time we got around to Tonight Tonight I was confined to a range of about one octave :P which luckily was just about enough.

Then we went back to Cassie's, where I was planning to sleep over, because it's REALLY FAR AWAY, but my mum called and ordered me home so I could let the dishwasher repairman in the next morning. (Not that he actually showed up until five, so FAIL.) But before I went we had Thai food, cake and Scrubs :) also we somehow segued into hilarious coming out stories (*cough* *cough*) and it's nice to see I'm not the only one whose group of friends is so disproportionately gay :P

Anyway, spending the whole weekend out while not quite recovered from my cold was pretty tiring. I spent the rest of the week sort of hibernating in my room aside from a visit to each set of grandparents and a fairly epic meltdown on the part of my mother. Today I went to St Vinnies and bought a pretty black flowery vest, and then went to Aldi where I bought sneakers, Ibuprofen and mayonnaise. Seriously, they have EVERYTHING. Come the zombie apocalypse, I'm hanging out in an Aldi.
