Uh so I guess the insomnia is back. *wince*

I could just push back my sleep cycle since I'm on holidays but my mother insists on coming in at eleven every morning to natter at me until I get up. So, woooozy.

Also, having an existential argument about cherries...?

In other news, hee and lol.

I would suggest that "more cherries than God" means "one or more" if you are an atheist, and "two or more" if you are a monotheist.

That's what I thought, at least re: atheism, but technically if you consider God to exist you consider him to be infinite, right? I mean she isn't buying more cherries than Zeus here. So on the monotheist side of the question it's kind of infinite+1 cherries.

But in Judaism, at least, the singularity and uniqueness of God is a often-repeated and very significant part of the religion. In the prayer Yigdal, we state that "God is One, and there is no unity like God's; God is invisible, God's unity is infinite." So, while there is a concept of infinity in this, there is also a concept of "one", and the concept of "one-ness" is vital.

If you're Christian, of course, "more cherries than God" would be four or more.

Hmm. Point. Anyway, I'm leaning on the "buying more cherries than she is buying God" interpretation, and she didn't seem to be about to buy any God at all, so honestly any number of cherries would do.

Wouldn't that be "three or more"?

*runs away*

If you're a dualist, like a Zoroastarian, who recognizes the principles of Good and Evil (as represented by Ahura Mazda and Tiamat) as two opposing Divine principles, or a neo-Pagan who worships the Male and Female Principles of Divinity as two agencies, then, sure.

It only works if God is male, let me just say.
