I did it.

Behold, Captain Oblivious!

First I figured I'd go for bright obnoxious colours and a strange fashion sense.

That one wasn't heroic enough although tail coat = win, so...

It's a bit seventies :P I love the O, but orange or not it's still too... smooth. I wanted something a little more chaotic. This can be Silver Age Captain Oblivious!

There are jeans, the boots don't match and the glasses over the mask made me giggle (because I would totally do that. Fuck contacts!) but it's still colour coordinated, and no hat! So I shrank the boots to show the jeans length and mismatched the gloves and the tunic ran in the wash, and of course, hat. Add one souped-up baseball bat and... voila!

PS: After all that I kinda wanted a picture of myself as a cool superhero, the kind I'd totally never be.

Call it my evil twin.

You know, I really do like that first one. Maybe it's the stripes, or maybe it is that win!tail coat. But it seems perfectly plausible to me. Actually, they all look great, I think -- though the cleaver's a great touch. The finished version of Captain O -- with or without uber-bat -- with the red/black gloves, still nine kinds'a cute. And the Evil!twin reminds me a lot of Wonderella for some reason. (I imagine her not using the staff as an actual staff but as a very long stick for poking things very gently.)

Dammit, I'm gonna have to do this, now, aren't I?

I love the cleaver, it's so random! That one can be the Silver Age version. The one that gets old scans posted to scans_daily under the context is for the weak tag with a panel where she's like... waving a giant rat at someone or shouting "Hoist on your own petard!!" at a supervillain in the process of falling into a volcano. Or something.

And the Silver Age Captain O never used the cleaver on people, of course, better to tie in with her Saturday morning cartoon series. Well, except for that one issue battling the Caffeinator, but that was later ruled justifiable.

And my mind's still reeling at your "context," because, yeah, volcano, giant rat...moar coffee is clearly called for. (And if I could find a decent skin tone on that El Herobuilllder thing, I'd be well on my way -- damn colorblindness.)

PS: skintone? They have a whole colour wheel. I managed to make Gabe Saporta look hispanic, I'm sure you can find whatever you're looking for. Even if it's, like, blue. I'm more annoyed about that builds - they only have one woman body, and even the "smaller" male body has this giant mutant chest-thing, and none of them have waists that would have room for, say, a spine.

Er, *facepalm* I just realised I misread your comment. Um, My skin tone is in the bottom right, across one and up two. Most of the non-african skin tones are on that diagonal or just above it.

Aw, thanks. I may have to steal your pigmentation. I mean that in the creative-thievery-way, not in the melanin-vampire-way. Which would be kinda fantastic, too, now that I think of it....

Pigment vampires! Heh. "Noooo, my hard-earned tan!"

You could just say fuck it, this is an alien/mutant and give it blue skin.

I'm impressed with the relatively-slender male physique -- the Heromachine (http://www.ugo.com/channels/comics/heromachine2/heroMachine2.asp) had only three builds, but they were superheroic, gargantuan and dwarf. (Though they also have those three for females, too.)

And yeah, colo(u)r wheel aside, the problem isn't as much being able to pick a color as it is me being capable of discerning it. If left to my own devices to choose a skintone, the results are occasionally...comical. Well, to everyone else, at least.

Actually, I like the first one the best... bow tie, tail coat, spectacles, book... Mmmm...
