No but seriously, I'm pretty sure it's just cats. Around here it's always just cats. Mysterious screeching noises from the yard? Cats. Dead things? Cats. Highly suspicious banging sounds interspersed with yowling? Cats. Crop circles? Cats. Strange lights dancing in the bush? Almost certainly cats.

'Chittering' is my no1 favourite menacing noise. I have an urban fox that lives roundabout, when he screams it sounds like someone's torturing a baby.
