Booster Gold! It's doing good. This looks like a pretty cool set-up. "The greatest heroes the world will never know" is good for a series where they can do the most outrageous crap without affecting the DC universe as a whole (because we've got outside-of-time stuff, memory wipes and most of the villains will undoubtedly be changing the verse for the worse and winning will mean a return to status quo) - but at the same time, it's also a good launch pad in the event of any retcons that require time travel to work. Beetle and Booster are perfect for those kinds of antics. Of course this is all provided Ted doesn't sacrifice himself to save the world from OMACs. Again. Which would be a) lame and b) unfair not to mention a huuuge missed opportunity. We're not out of the woods yet, people - but if they change the series title to Blue and Gold I think we're set.

Ted and Booster, meanwhile, have affirmed their status as one of my favourite Awesome Couples ever - not neccessarily in a slashy sense, either. Let me tell y'all about my Awesome Couples theory. You see, there are Romantic Awesome Couples (Mister Miracle and Big Barda, Apollo and Midnighter) and there are Platonic Awesome Couples (Batman and Superman, Cable and Deadpool...). You may have noticed that the PACs tend to get slashed, A LOT. My theory is that this is mostly down to the sad shortage of RACs, especially gay ones. Aside from A&M, Grace and Thunder... name one more. Go on. I'll wait. But even the straight RACs are in short supply these days - there's a tendency to use the Hero/Love Interest format, especially for male heroes (although arguable people like Lois Lane transcend Love Interesthood into the Awesome Zone).

So clearly we have to fill in the gap by borrowing some surplus PACs for slashy purposes. Seriously, half the TV shows in existence focus on a PAC - Numb3rs, SPN, every second crime solving acronym ever... so as awesome as the whole concept is, we can spare a few in the name of romance. (Another thing - why are all the PACs men? A few women, practically NO boy-girl combo happening!) Anyway, fond as I am of the slashy boostle, I love their canonical platonical awesome just as much and I'm really hoping my first guess is correct.

Also, this.

PS: rearended Barry Allen. *snerk*

You know my thoughts on the matter -- I think Ted Kord is made of win and awesome and he needs to be kept alive as long as possible, preferably in tandem with Michael Carter. Killing Ted was awful enough, the manner in which he was killed was ludicrous and perfectly worthy of an undoing via time-tripping Booster. This is actually beginning to raise my hopes that the Blue and Gold might be around for the long haul. But I'm so worried about raising my hopes.

And yeah, male/female PACs just get turned into romantic couples by lazy writers too often, because man + woman = automatic couple in their unimaginative eyes. Sigh.

Still dreading Final Crisis. Though Grant's writing it, so it'll at least be trippy.
