I think I missed January.

No, seriously, it feels like yesterday was the fourth, like I just woke up and went "What the hell, I just wasted a month." I didn't do anything, I didn't see anyone... the hell. Must fix.

Finished World War Z. Conclusion: Awesome. I really hope the movie ends up happening. Seriously, read this book. Also obtained Booster Gold #6 - I only mention this because I was in Comic Kingdom and I swear I saw an exact replica of The Simpson's Comic Book Guy browsing the stands. Down to the ponytail and the bright shirt.

Some lulz.

From various sources: The band Five for Fighting is generously donating $0.40 to Autism Speaks each time [THIS VIDEO] is viewed. The funds raised will go toward research studies to help find a cure for autism. When you have a moment, please watch this informative clip, featuring touching photos of a beloved daughter and her family.

There are insurance companies who refuse to pay for much needed therapy to help these children. The earlier it's caught and they CAN get the therapy, the better chance they have of leading fuller, more interactive lives with the world around them. Every day counts, and there are so many who are slipping through the cracks. So many. Please do what little you can, watch the video, watch it lots of times, leave it running in the background, get other people to watch it, donate to your local or state autism societies, learn more about this so you can help parents who have children who they love desperately, and who sometimes feel a little crazy BECAUSE they love them so much, and yet feel like sometimes they just can't get through.

Uh, but please check out the links in a comment below first. Honestly, some days I just don't want to post nonfiction.

Yay for WWZ. I fear Booster Gold. Ted Kord being dead strikes me as one of the gravest injustices in modern narrative, and anything that rectifies that mistake is a good thing by me. If they back out of correcting that mistake, it will...distress me.

I do confess, though, that I haven't been in a comic book store in three years now. All of mine keep folding or moving, and I don't know where my favorite has moved to. Wah.

I don't think so - this was a pretty obvious set-up for the new Blue And Gold series as an adventurin' duo type thing. There's no good reason to re-kill him. Sadly I doubt Trickster will get the same reprieve...

Oh, trust me, that's never stopped them before.

That said, I hope you're right. Except about Trickster, who I liked, despite not having much Rogues/Flash cred. I admit to not missing Bart, but what a miserable way to kill him off. And I think people are beginning to appreciate Kord more now (and he'll certainly be more important if the rumblings about killing off _____n are true).

You and I both know it won't stick, but it's Grant Morrison (http://www.crunchgear.com/2008/01/24/batman-set-to-perish-in-issue-676/), so it'll at least be interesting. He did show rather definitively in JLA that he "got" the character better than most. (I highly recommend his run in JLA, New X-Men, and if you like having your brain bent behind your back, The Invisibles.)

Oh right. Huh. I could see an era with Dick as Batman. Would not be very good for him though. And it can't be Tim yet, he's too young and... how the hell would that intersect with the Evil!Future!Titans storyline? Whoah.

They're totally gonna bring him back.

Perhaps aforementioned guy was deliberately dressing up as Comic Book Guy (you know, cosplay style, except perhaps with less tentacle porn ;D). Did you try to engage him in conversation and see if he sounded like Comic Book Guy too? *g*

And hee, love the list! *links to fandom!Australians* :D

Just a heads-up: Autism Speaks is associated with some highly questionable things (http://conuly.livejournal.com/1344977.html). Here's a description of a video released by the organization (http://conuly.livejournal.com/1084813.html).
