Tomorrow (well, today) is election day, my first. I left this a bit late but I've been examining the nsw preference flow. A lot of parties are giving their preferences to people I know of as "Some Random" which is not all that helpful. Someone did an awesome rundown for Victoria but it's only marginally useful across the border. If you've no clue what I'm talking about because you're foreign or young enough not to have to deal with this shit, this explains it quite succinctly.
I guess I'd like my votes to go towards some kind of checks and balances for whoever gets the majority. And for the majority not to be the Coalition, because I don't know how much better Labor would be but let's face it - they probably couldn't be worse. (Imagine living in that bizarre world in which election smear campaigns come true. The Communist Republic of Australia, woo.)
So I hear voting isn't compulsory in the US. I'm torn between lazy envy and righteous democratic indignation. Y'all should have voting incentives, you know? Like cake. In other news, it's one am again. Captain Oblivious should have a sidekick. Coherency Kid. Sort of like a seeing eye dog only for tomfoolery.
Tomfoolery is an awesome word.
ETA: This is even more succinct, and funny to boot. Also chad is almost as awesome as tomfoolery. And in America they have chadfoolery.

And re: preferential voting, we kind of need it, given our population. Also works better because it's compulsory, I'm inclined to say too. :)
Alright, see you tonight. *hugs*
