May. 15th, 2007 03:39 pmOne of the best things about Grandma Ira looking after Timmy when I'm at home is I actually end up taking breaks from the computer. My mum leaves little to do lists, you see, and if I don't get up right now and do a job Grandma will do it, on her wobbly legs and all, and then I'll feel guilty. So "just one more youtube vid" is right out.
Also pretty much ZERO chance of forgetting to eat, yeah.
And now for something completely different! In the aftermath of the whole Supernatural convention fiasco with the excrutiatingly embarrassing fangirl asking Jensen Ackles about fanfiction (about wincest omfg) I realised that I'm sort of growing out of the SPN fandom as I have with pretty much everything but HP.
This is because SPN, like most things I fangirl, is actually a decent piece of work. Basically, it doesn't need fanfiction. Harry Potter, however, is an amazing universe with a ridiculous amount of potential when you think about the job Rowling is doing - she's not actually bad at it (although I think you'll find
mike_smith disagrees hilariously), but there's just so much more in there than she's ever going to do justice to. Especially given that nobody dares to actually edit her books anymore, judging from the last one.
Supernatural, though - it's a good show. It provides some fanservice (who am I kidding, "hot demon hunters" was the entire premise) and doesn't have too many plotholes, and there's a fairly interesting archenemy and good actors... kinda whatever. And don't even get me started on J2 - it's essentially original fiction with real actors cast in it, and you get to a point where you wonder why they even use the names anymore. Not that it isn't good, it just seems mislabelled, especially in the AUs. There are about three of them that are the only reason I still watch the padackles comm - with my memory, keeping track of all of them individually is not going to happen.
