On Children
Apr. 12th, 2006 08:34 pmThe relo's are here, the full mishpocheh - which is only about 12 people including us, actually, and two of them under five - grandad S has already spilt wine all over his pants, and my mother made things up about French politics and was solidly rebutted by my uncle.
I find it more interesting to watch my brother and cousin Danny playing. It's funny how different they are. You can't help ut wonder how they'll grow up. I reckon Timmy will be the drummer and play footy, and Danny will be the pianist and play DnD. He has a quirky imagination, that kid - I was watching him put a puzzle together with absolutely no regard for where the actual picture was, and when I said "That doesn't go there..." he said (in Russian) "I'm making a putanitsa [slang word, tangled knot/spiderweb as metaphor for confusing thing]". He was doing it weirdly on purpose, and when he'd finished it actually looked sort of cool. My brother, while this was taking place, was running around waving half a truck going "I'm hungry! Give me a hug! Maggie have some bread! Fix the truck! Why does it go like that? I want lots of butter!" - which is adorable but won't count in his favour with the teachers when he goes to school.
