Wow, my arms are finally functional again! That took waaaay too long. How much does it suck that I was a complete hermit in the holidays and now, when all my assignments are coming due, my social life picks up? Le timing, she is not my friend. Yesterday I hit the Roxbury again for Full Body Contact No Love Tennis, a comedy improv show/competition. Apparently the name is a product of the only trophy they could find being a Jewish boys' tennis doubles trophy. They are inevitably hysterical. I went with a bunch of randoms from the Writers' Club we're starting at UTS. Actually most of the randoms were not even from the writers' club, they were the American boyfriend from Woolongong of the girl organising it, and his completely coincidentally also American roommate who is here playing soccer (in Woolongong), and... some guys. IDK. We had a few hours to kill between the end of the inaugural club meeting (at which we puzzled over a constitution and agreed that alcohol-fueled literary appreciation was called for, and I met another fandom kid! How random!) and the start of the show, so we took a walk down to Glebe instead of catching the bus. Then we ate cheap pasta on a coffee table while some random party that had reserved all the proper tables convinced some poor nerdy kid to down five shots in a row. There was apparently projectile vomit shortly afterwards. Everyone at the improv show made fun of them. Also I won a dog-eared anthropology textbook for audience participation (ie shouting out prompts) (specifically in response to "something related to Indiana Jones," when I said "funny hats" - go figure).
I want to go to the Sydney Writers' Festival but all the good events are on at the same time, consecutively in different places, or several hours apart in the same place. Which sucks.
My broadband download limit has gotten spontaneously upgraded! I'm not sure if my dad changed our plan or the plan evolved. (Maybe it has a new attack, too.) To celebrate I decided to check out The Matches, because someone sent me a couple of their songs (or, possibly they were up on
bandom_recs) and Audio Blood is the biggest earworm. I've listened to it about a billion times already. Anyway, I got a more recent album, which is a little more pop but also cool. I've also returned to the wonderful Placebo of my youth (okay, no, of about four years ago) some of which I even had LEGITIMATELY until one of my myriad hard drive crashes, and gotten into the Alkaline Trio. Their early stuff is fairly crappy with a few exceptions. New stuff is good though!
Other things I have obtained include the latest Booster Gold and some Sandman spinoffs that Comic Kingdom had on two-for-a-dollar.
