My dad's doing some accounts for his department at the moment, and it is becoming abundantly clear that the guy who did it before him didn't actually know what he was doing, and basically just copied words and numbers off reciepts and hoped for the best. Currently he's going through the Assets, which for the actuarily impaired* is material objects owned by the company eg desks and machinery. Among other things, he's found a listing for "miscellaneous vacuum"... It took him a moment to realise that it referred to cleaning equipment and the man hadn't listed empty space as a company asset.

...is anyone else not getting any comment notifications? Comments to my journal go in my Messages folder, but not on other communities, and nothing gets to gmail at all, which of course means it will be flooded when they fix it.

*Like me. I saw an accounting student on the bus a few days ago, I glance at her paper and all I could make out were some lines and arrows and the words assets, tax, liability and ded.
