Aussies! Linking to copyright material banned!.

Well, I never upload music here anyway, but I suppose I'd better put a disclaimer in my floaty post just in case I accidentally link to something dodgy, because fucked if I'm going to stop linking things lest I be sued by The Man.

Maggie, have you considered that every webpage on the Internet - not website, webpage - is copyrighted material?
Under the Cooper ruling, you'll have to get explicit permission from every site and page you want to post a link to.
Everyone is raging about the music and video stuff, but that's just the beginning.
Under the Cooper ruling, not only is the owner of the site infringing on copyright by making a link, but the ISP is also liable. For example, all thos links over there to other blogs mean LiveJournal is infringing on all those copyrights.

Great stuff, huh?

Well, I'm not particularly worried about the whole "close down the interwebs, everything is copyright!" issue, because that's exactly the sort of thing that's liable to get the law overruled as soon as someone sits down with a judge and politely introduces them to google.
