Sep. 3rd, 2006 07:48 pmOh, LibraryThing. Oh, Tolkien. Why is it so bloody difficult to input my posession of the Lord of the Rings trilogy in one volume? BECAUSE IT'S FUCKING BURIED IN 753 WHACKY LOTR MOVIE PARAPHERNALIA SORT OF BOOK TYPE THINGS. That's why! Hoorah for an illustrated guide to the battles, armies and armour of middle-earth, and exploring the spiritual themes of lord of the rings, and the lord of the rings Oracle gift set, but all I want to catalogue is a bloody paperback that I got BEFORE THE MOVIE CAME OUT RAR.
ETA: I tell a lie, it's 2001, so I think at least one movie was already out. But still!
why don't I have a RAGE icon?
ETA 2: w00t.

...gets wrapped up in a vast monstrosity of code. You can see what the code looks like (I'm not posting an example here) by going to a library catalogue, finding a record and clicking 'MARC view', 'librarian's view' or similar. The MARC standards can be found here (http://www.loc.gov/marc/), if you're keen to see them.
