I am dreadfully ill. That's right, I have the dreaded Influenza, folks. And apparantly need watching for glandular fever or pneumonia or some shit like that. Thanks to my mum's worriful nature, I am being alternately told to lie down, clean my desk, inhale things, eat garlic, drink chinese tea or weird lemony concoctions, wrap up warm to sweat the fever out, open my windows and air my room so my temperature goes down, take one of any number of pills, lock my door so my baby brother doesn't come into my room and get infected, don't lock the door in case there's an emergency, clean up after the cat and take a cold bath, or possibly a hot one, or maybe just a warm bath, or on second thoughts just soak my feet in some sort of mustard-y orange thing.

Also, there is a jar of pine needles on my desk, and thanks to an Incident involving a thermometer and my own lack of co-ordination, I am now aware that, should the ear canal be big enough for a thumb, you could stick yours in up to the first knuckle before hitting the ear-drum, which is sort of... drum-like.

I spent Saturday and Sunday distracting myelf with Harry Potter fanfiction over at Polyamorous so my fever-dreams Sunday night involved much Snape (stop that, Melissa) although I can't quite recall the details.

I'm not delirious now though. I think.

Just wanted to note - wrapping up to "sweat the fever out" is an old wives tale that mysteriously persists despite the fact that it's a dangerous practice. Don't do it. Sometimes it will actually make you break a sweat and cause a temporary drop in fever, but largely it just holds the heat in your body and can cause it to get dangerously hot.

Well, I don't actually follow her instructions XP unless I'm shivering uncontrollably, in which case wrapping up seems to make sense.
