Apr. 4th, 2006 01:17 pmOur new English teacher is very interesting. She just spent a double period on what was supposed to be a quick explanation of the context in which we view Victorian Realism. She started off by explaining about Indo-European languages, Germanic languages, and Beowulf, went on a bit of a detour about DVD regions, then got right back into Puritans, the Restoration (the British one), Middle English, Byron, his girlfriends and the Shelleys holed up in a castle telling ghost stories, some angry ranting about Dryden and his split infinitive phobia, squealy fangirling of Swift and Hardy (and you should have heard her going on about Hardy straddling the genre gap...), King Kong, graphic novels and the impossibility of correctly pronouncing English.
Wheee.
