Augh. Now I ded from internets. I may have to finish up tomorrow. I have to go to bed because my grandma is expecting me before noon tomorrow, and my other grandma is expecting me pretty much immediately after that. This is what happens when you leave town for a few days :P not that I mind, because there is literally no food in the house. Woman cannot live on noodles alone! I ate an icecream cone full of melted marshmallow instead of icecream for supper. Nom. Anyway, both grandmas are likely to feed me, so that's breakfast and lunch tied up, and then shopping! For groceries, and also presents for the family, by which I pretty much just mean my parents and brother, because we usually do joint stuff for the million grandparents. Thank goodness, because it's hard enough to think of good birthday presents for just one person, I would have a nervous breakdown if I had to give something different to every individual.

The awesome thing about being Russian secular is five extra days to shop for Yulesticemas gifts, since we celebrate in the region of the 31st. Not that I'm planning to be home on New Years Eve, but present giving should happen either that day or the one after. I might get my dad the next Vorkosigan novel. And read it first, of course :P

Ahhhh freedom! I love it. I am eating s'lesses in my room, which is in a state wherein you cannot actually see the floor, and nooooobody is going to complain about it. :D

I went down to my paternal grandparents' today and got fed and came home with a bag full of fruit and some dumplings, which combined with my other grandma sending over some fish and buckwheat reduced my grocery shopping to bread and cheese and sour cream (nom nom) and crackers for the aforementioned s'lesses. Also while at gran's I watched five minutes of a badly-taped Russian TV show called "GorDon Quixote" (presumably because Gordon is the host's name). It is hilarious. The set-up is that they invite a crank with bizarre yet airtime-loaded theories (in this case that Russian is the Adam and Eve of European languages whence all the others came) and a panel of Experts to argue with him. The highlight of this episode for me was the tiny bearded academic who called the man a lunatic a lot and shouted the Russian equivalent of poppycock or balderdash or whatever, "chipuha!" and then the camera cut to the crank blinking furiously with a little twitch in the side of his face. It was great. I don't know why we don't have an English language version of this, I want a public space where nobody has to be polite to creationists and gay-cure people and scientologists and people who think feminists killed the neanderthals or whatever. Televised shouting! Top class entertainment! It's like reality TV except with actual reality!

Meanwhile it seems like a whole bunch of people are having a pretty crappy time, and I feel really bad, mostly because I have this instinct when it comes to bad stuff, I have this giant AVOOOOID hammer in my head, and sometimes I read a post and find I've clicked away and opened something happy before I've even had time to process somebody else's suffering, and then I feel like a total douchebag, to put it lightly. I do it in RL too, I tend to just steamroll over both my own and other people's sad feelings because isn't it better that way? says my brain isn't it nicer to talk about nice things isn't it?

Anyway enough of that! Did you hear Warner has pulled all their music videos off youtube including Amanda Palmer/The Dresden Dolls? What dicks! Have an unlikely melee weapon.

So in an interesting coincidence, I left my jeans in Port Stephens (my big bag couldn't fit in Maria's parents car) and the entire contents of my wardrobe are currently occupying my bedroom floor for reasons best left unspecified.

And on top of this pile there was this pair of blue pinstriped shorts.

And I'm going to a barbecue in five minutes.

...I may or may not look like a complete tool, but either way it will be hilarious!
