Sep. 7th, 2008 10:07 pmToday I went abseiling! It was more of a brush-up course than a proper trip, learning the new descenders and reminding myself what it feels like when you are not doing it wrong (and, of course, when you are).
Also because I signed up with the Outdoor Activities Club at the start of the year and proceeded to do absolutely nothing.
The class was full of postgrad students and Europeans, many of them forensic pathologists. One of these works as an Anatomy Technician in a lab and enjoyed gleefully announcing that her job basically consists of cutting up dead bodies. This is so newbie med students can practice with their scalpels, you see. She made the requisite "can I lend you a hand" joke and was a generally interesting person. We teamed up on one of the European girls with tales of snake and spider. And, you know, drop bears...
Meanwhile, I have decided that my hair actually makes me look like a Romulan Beatle. I have not yet decided whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.
