The elections are going swimmingly, or so I hear

So I hear a lot of US primaries were on today. As a foreigner and someone whose view of politics has much in common with my view on paintball¹, I enjoyed what Jon Carroll had to say:

I should say that my analysis of the election results is being written on Monday, before a single vote has been counted. I am steering clear of any charges of bandwagon-jumping or 20-20 hindsight. My hindsight is all before the fact. Can any other pundit make that claim?

Mike Huckabee was a wild card in this election. Remember way back when the Republican nominating process was in chaos and no clear front-runner could be discerned? That was in, when, January? So long ago. Huckabee was one reason for the chaos. He appealed to the base. Mitt Romney appealed to the acids. John McCain appealed to the noble gases. The chaos was subatomic. No wonder it took a whole month to sort itself out.

In other news, Venice has spawned a trend with the aid of rising sea levels - I have to admit that looks pretty awesome.

EDIT: PS AND SPEAKING OF SEA LEVELS, it's totally raining again. The flood is heeeeere.

¹Painful, ridiculous, allows people to exercise their less noble instincts, funnier from the outside, everyone's a rabid enthusiast or doesn't give a shit. Less projectile weaponry, though.
