(no subject)

I walked into the following conversation this morning before maths. It seemed blogworthy (by which I mean that it made me giggle). Warning: contains stereotypes, rough paraphrasing (except in the case of Jenny X, who is directly quoted throughout) and gratuitous use of the word GAY.

Me: *enters stage left*
Jenny X: But they're gay! And I'm a woman!
Min: So?
Me: ...what?
Jenny: BUT THEY'RE GAY.
Nicky: Who's gay?
Diana: *absently raises her hand*
Jenny: The guys! On Oxford street!
Me: ...and?
Jenny: And one of them asked me for my number! But they're gay! And I'm a woman! And they're gay!
Me: Well, clearly that one wasn't.
Jenny: But-
Me: Jenny, you sound confused.
Jenny: But I'm GAY! I mean THEY'RE GAY. ARGH.
Nicky: What's she confused about?
Me: Apparently not everyone who walks down Oxford street is gay. Who'd have thought?
Nicky: Astonishing. People actually use streets for walking down. What will they think of next...
