So that was my first HSC exam. The monster is just that little bit closer to being defeated. I also have an ordeal metaphor, a gauntlet metaphor, a lost-in-the-woods metaphor, and one with that doorful of boulders that they made you balance on your back to see if you were a witch, or something.

I was nervous going in, but once started writing I felt surprisingly competent. I think it's just the dread of Modern History that's colouring everything else. After all the hullabaloo with supervisors signing things and collecting papers and stretching and trying to communicate in morse code tapped out on our desks when they told us to shut up, we were all set to get the hell out of there when good ol' Vazza stepped up and informed us that Channel Ten were going to film us for the requisite HSC-starts-today special, and could we just grab some paper and pick up our pens and pretend to write for about ten minutes?

So, with a sigh, i opened my question booklet (which doesn't look a thing like the already-collected answer booklets) and began to write a zombie contingency plan, as follows:

Step 1: Panic.
Step 2: Find high ground.
Step 3: Obtain weaponry (firearms preferable, flamethrowers AWESOME.)

After this and a few rounds of thequickbrownfox I got bored and started writing out Russian poetry from memory. So, you know, if you saw Ten News last night and wondered why that English paper looked sort of funny...

Not that I was the only one, whatever school got the same deal from Channel Nine had a bloke who was clearly drawing geometric patterns on his question booklet :P

I've also been reafflicted with the Curse of the Multiplying Stuff. Remember that little ironing board I brought to drama for props, and when I came back to collect it after the production there were two of them? Well, I now inexplicably have an extra school skirt. What the hell? You know what they say - once is accident, twice is coincidence, three times... well, I'll be watching out for three times. Maybe this is like karmic payback for all my disappearing odd socks?

Anyway, I should get back to studying for the next exam. I've already been distracted waay too much by [livejournal.com profile] active_apathy's link - wikihopping is going to kill me some day.
