Jun. 16th, 2007 09:25 pmDear god. Late to two plays in as many days, my hard-earned ability not to be as late to things as my mother is slipping! The year elevens' major drama production was amusing - the play didn't strike me as being particulalry great, but then neither was ours - ours was just more eclectic, and random, and I still blame Ms Surbey's pregnancy. The year elevens organised their bit well. That was the funnest part of our major production, the crew bits. Spending a lunchtime marking squares backstage in masking tape and writing out costume charts. Excavating the back room in search of the floor. Watching the set go up and look awesome. All these things are easier to feel proud of than our acting because we can look at them objectively. We can't do that to our own performances unless we get them on video. This year's crop had some really great music to accompany their snappy transitions. Liv made up a CD for ours, but it was full of Queen songs, and I'm told we just ended up using Gracie Girl by Ben Folds. I only remember the final curtain call when we trooped offstage singing along to it - it was one of those scenes-from-a-movie that you sometimes get in real life.
So I was late to that, and then I was late to Red Light Winter but the Griffin folks wouldn't let me in cos it had started already, so I just rescheduled for next week. That was a nice round-trip to Kings Cross and back in the rain for no reason.
