Dukes and Familiarity
Sep. 25th, 2005 06:46 pmI went to Alyssa's birthday movie thingy on Friday night. Avi called me while I was on the bus, and he was all like, "You remember you're going to see a play tomorrow, right?" and I was all like "what?" but more on that later.
I got to George Street cinemas, and the first thing that catches my eye is a queue full of goths and emo kids. Mohawks and chains and all, everyone wasa wearing black. I was a litte weirded out and wondered if they were Alyssa's friends, but there were rather a lot of them. Then Alyssa popped up, and I was very much *phew*. She hugged me and murmured, "hey, see those two guys over there? That one's my boyfriend, Tom, and the other one is your ideal boyfriend." When I informed her that I've already got one she shrieked "OH MY GOD WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!" It seems that's the one bit of NIDA gossip that she hasn't heard.
Anyway, her other friends turned up shortly, and I made instant friends with a semi-goth-like girl called Ella. None of the other NIDA people made it, so I didn't know anyone, but I felt right at home - guess why? The group included not one but TWO immensely tall guys in trenchcoats with long dyed black hair, a huge guy with an afro who didn't talk much (or indeed at all), and a bunch of girls in skirts, some of them asian, who kept making lesbian jokes about each other and feeling each other up. I had a sense of deja vu, but I don't think any of them were Russian... ^_^
We ended up watching Dukes of Hazzard, which was hilarious, if corny. Next entry will be of Shakespeare and toast, I can't seem to write much in a rw because my head is being jumped up and down on.
